Theft from vehicles

Alert message sent 28/01/2020 14:47:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Catalytic Converter Thefts

Police have  received 6 reports from residents living in Great Hollands and Birch Hill of the theft of the Catalytic Converters from their cars during Saturday 25 January whilst they were parked and unattended roadside on the estate in a number of the cul de sacs leading off either Ringmead. All the thefts appear to have occurred in broad daylight and in one incident at 12.37pm the car owner disturbed two offenders who made off in a black Mazda car that was displaying stolen registration plates.
Catalytic Converters are very expensive filters which form part the exhaust pipe system beneath a vehicle which are targeted due to precious metals contained within. The thieves operate by jacking the targeted vehicle up and then using power tools such as a disc cutter  in order to get access to them.
Anyone who  saw anything untoward or has CCTV or Dashcam footage or any other information about these thefts is asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101.  Should you not want to speak to a police officer or want to remain anonymous to contact the independent charity “Crimestoppers” on 0800 555 111.
