Thefts from Vehicles

Alert message sent 16/02/2020 09:17:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Slough has recently seen an increase in thefts from motor vehicles - both cars and vans.
Please try to keep yourself and your belongings safe by following some basic steps:

* Double check your vehicle is secure - make sure all the doors are properly closed and the locks are engaged
* Park in well-lit areas - preferably near CCTV cameras
* Don't leave items on display inside your vehicle - you may know that your bag only has your workout gear in it, but a thief will see it as an opportunity

A CLEAR CAR IS A BORING CAR FOR A THIEF!!

We have had a lot of thefts of catalytic converters. The Toyota Prius is one of the favoured targets for this, so if you own one please try and park it in as secure a place as possible.
There have also been tool thefts from vans. Van drivers, where possible take your tools out at night. When it's not possible try and park so that the large access doors are up against a wall to make access difficult.
If you see anyone acting suspiciously around any vehicles, call 999 and let us know what is going on.
