Thames Valley Police Burglary Intensification

Alert message sent 31/12/2020 11:32:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police held a force wide Burglary intensification in December. Officers in Bracknell and Wokingham were busy targeting our known offenders, patrolling areas most affected by burglaries and providing crime prevention advice and support to our most vulnerable. It was a successful week of action with the following results in Bracknell and Wokingham:

11 arrests of offenders known to police
14 stop searches with 4 positive results
Vital intelligence gathered to support policing objectives for Burglary
19 disruption visits to offenders known to police
1 training event delivered
2 community engagement events took place
1 partial closure order on an address known to be frequented by theft offenders
All distraction/family gold burglary victims from last 2 years were visited and given crime prevention advice and literature
4 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) operations in key burglary hotspot locations
Hotspot patrolling throughout the week offering reassurance and advice to our communities

As a result of the hard work that has taken place to disrupt offending and catch and convict offenders in our area the rate of Burglary has been reduced by 58% compared to the previous year and homeowners can take some simple steps to help ensure this trend continues into the New Year.

• Lock your doors and windows even if you only pop out for a short period of time and at night
• Light up your home using a timer switch when you are out
• Close and secure gates that lead to rear or enclosed gardens
• Don’t leave packaging next to your bin
• Don’t advertise when you are away from your home on social media
• Consider installing a video doorbell or CCTV system

Please visit www.thamesvalley.police.uk for further crime prevention advice.

Please contact us if you have any information relating to crime in your neighbourhood. Report online at www.thamesvalley.police.uk call us on 101 or in an emergency dial 999.
Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on free phone 0800 555 111.

We wish you all a healthy and Happy New Year.
