A very Clever Scam Urgent NW

Alert message sent 28/05/2022 10:42:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

This is a message from Val McPherson Area Neighbourhood Watch Representative for Aylesbury Vale.
I am sharing this information as it happened about a couple of hours ago in a different area,  but I wish to warn everyone.

I have just received a phone call from a Co-ordinator in Longwick  who states he nearly fell to becoming a victim this morning  of a clever scam that I had warned about via my Neighbourhood Alert message.

The phone call received an 08.30 from a person stating he is a Sargent from Paddington Police Station called Sargent Anthony Clinton.

He told the resident that on the evening of 27 May for 2 Rolex watches by Lucy Lake had been taken from his credit card amounting to £22,750.

He  was then told to dial 999, which they did and give the following information:

Police number DC15665, Police reference CAD3651A and Crime number CR1/75573663.
The caller confirmed they were speaking to them and gave the resident back their name and house number plus their address.
The caller then said " Are you in any danger , a car is on it way to you. Do you need a car ........it was then the intended victim knew it was a scam and put the phone down.

The resident then rang and informed his bank fraud department to check any transactions  been taken out of his account but luckily none had been taken.

This is a very clever scam and remember the scammers were still holding the line when asking the resident to make the 999 call.

Please be very aware as these scammers are circulating in everywhere.

Stay Safe and be careful.

Thank you
Val
